About
The EHang EH216-S is a two-seat, fully autonomous (pilotless) electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft developed by EHang Holdings Limited of Guangzhou, China. It uses sixteen propellers driven by sixteen electric motors arranged in a coaxial dual-rotor power configuration on eight arms, and is operated via preset flight routes with GNSS-aided intelligent navigation and centralised ground command-and-control.
In Qatar, the EH216-S was used for the Middle East's first urban pilotless passenger eVTOL trial on 15 November 2025, with point-to-point flights between Old Doha Port and Katara Cultural Village. The Qatar trial campaign was conducted under operational authorisation from the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) and the strategic support of the Ministry of Transport (MoT), as part of Qatar's MoT Strategy 2025-2030. The aircraft holds Type Certificate, Standard Airworthiness Certificate and Production Certificate from China's CAAC; it does not hold a Qatar type certificate, and its Qatar status is trial-only.
