About
This page compares three modes of transport on the same Doha corridor that EHang and Qatar's Ministry of Transport used for the country's first urban pilotless eVTOL trial: Old Doha Port ↔ Katara Cultural Village. The eVTOL data point is from EHang's investor relations announcement of 17 November 2025; metro data is from Qatar Rail and Visit Qatar; taxi data is from Mowasalat (Karwa).
Two important notes before the numbers. First, the eVTOL flight was a trial conducted with QCAA operational authorisation, not a commercial service — there is no published fare and no scheduled flight. Second, comparing the eight-minute flight against a 30-minute car trip is EHang's own statement; actual road travel time varies with traffic.

Practical info
How to get there
By metro
Doha Metro Red Line — Msheireb (interchange near Old Doha Port) and Katara stations. Journey time approximately 15 minutes including transfer; QAR 2 standard single.
By car
Old Doha Port to Katara is approximately 12 km / 7.7 miles by road via Corniche Road. Karwa taxis are metered.
From the airport
Not applicable — Hamad International Airport (DOH) is in Qatar; this corridor is internal to Doha city.
Regulatory status
The 17 November 2025 eVTOL flights took place under operational authorisation from the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA), with strategic support from the Ministry of Transport. They were trial operations — no commercial air operator certificate has been issued for eVTOL passenger service in Qatar. The Doha Metro is operated by Qatar Rail under regulatory oversight of the Ministry of Transport. Karwa taxis are regulated by Mowasalat, the state-owned transport company, under the Ministry of Transport.
Current progress
As of May 2026, only metro and taxi service operate commercially on this corridor. The eVTOL data point is a single trial campaign. EHang has stated that future development will focus on shuttle services between airport and urban centres, air-taxi corridors serving tourism and high-traffic zones, and integration into Qatar's multimodal transport strategy — but no commercial launch date has been published by EHang or the Ministry of Transport.

Verification flags
- EHang's '30 minutes by car' figure for the Old Doha Port–Katara corridor is the operator's stated comparison; actual taxi journey times vary with traffic and have not been independently published by Mowasalat or Qatar Rail.
- Doha eVTOL fare not published — pricing comparison is therefore qualitative for the eVTOL row only.
- Metro time '~15 min Msheireb to Katara' is from Visit Qatar / Doha Metro public timetable references; no single Qatar Rail PDF specifying this exact segment was located in primary sources.
- GPS set to a midpoint between Old Doha Port (~25.286° N, 51.532° E) and Katara (~25.359° N, 51.524° E) — answer-page entity, no single point.
- Karwa taxi 'QAR 25-35' typical fare is calculated from the operator-published meter formula (QAR 7 min + QAR 1.60/km × ~12 km), not a single Mowasalat-published table for this specific corridor.
